EADEN, DGBP, and Bio fertilizer Africa establish 4 Ecological Land Use Management Centers in Eastern Uganda
In a collaborative effort to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience, the Eastern Archdiocesan Development Network (EADEN), in partnership with Bio fertilizer Africa, with support from DGBP established four Ecological Land Use Management (ELUM) Centers across the districts of Iganga, Tororo, Bugiri, and Mbale City. These centers serve as practical learning hubs for agroecological farming, aiming to equip local communities with the skills, resources, and technologies needed to build climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods.
A key component of this initiative is the promotion and use of organic fertilizers, generously provided by Bio fertilizer Africa, a critical partner in the project. These high-quality bio fertilizers are being used at each ELUM center to demonstrate how organic inputs can restore soil fertility, improve crop yields, and reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals.
“The integration of organic fertilizers from Bio fertilizer Africa has made a visible impact on soil health and plant productivity,” noted an EADEN agroecology trainer. “Farmers are seeing the benefits of going organic—not just for their crops, but for their health and the environment.”
What the ELUM Centers Offer:
Demonstration farms featuring agroecological techniques such as composting, intercropping, crop rotation, agroforestry, and organic soil amendments.
Hands-on training on the production and application of organic fertilizers, including those supplied by Bio fertilizer Africa.
Farmer field schools and knowledge exchange platforms to encourage peer learning and innovation.
Community mobilization and advocacy for scaling up agroecological practices.
The ELUM centers are already playing a transformative role in local farming communities—reviving degraded soils, boosting food security, and fostering ecological consciousness.
Through this partnership, EADEN, DGBP, and Bio fertilizer Africa are sowing the seeds for a healthier, more sustainable future, one where farmers are empowered to nurture the land while feeding their communities with dignity and resilience.
