EADEN  provides technical coordination on programming, capacity building and networking amongst the Caritas Commissions in Tororo Archdiocese.

EADEN also promotes sustainable Farmer Organizations and Producer Organizations for sustainable Livelihoods, Food and Income Security.  

EADEN promotes growth that is based on sustainable ecological agriculture, growth that is all inclusive i.e. benefitting the rural small holder farmers, the women and the youth and growth that is steered by Farmer Institutions (Cooperative Societies). It has been proven by our interventions that; The Farmer Cooperative Society Model of service delivery to rural small holder farmers have quicker and enduring multiplier effects resulting into resilient family livelihoods, increased incomes, food & nutrition security and empowered farmers able to participate in public decision making processes and advocate for their basic rights.

EADEN believes; If the Caritas Commissions in Tororo Archdiocese  have the institutional capacity to design, manage and implement poverty reduction programs effectively, and if farmers are involved in cooperative societies and ecological & organic agricultural technologies and practices are mainstreamed along the entire commodity value chains and public policies and programs then the 80% Ugandan rural small holder farmers trapped in subsistence farming can attain gainful employment, increased incomes, food & nutrition security and environmentally sustainable agricultural production systems.

Economic Empowerment

According to the 2016 Poverty Assessment,the proportion of the Ugandan population living below the national poverty line declined from 31.1% in 2006 to 19.7% in 2013. However, progress in reducing poverty has been much slower in Northern and Eastern Uganda, and thus, the concentration of poverty is higher in these two regions. The proportion of the total number of poor people who live in the Northern and Eastern regions increased between 2006 and 2013, from 68% to 84%, according to the report. As a result of these worrying statistics, EADEN together with its Development partners is implementing a series of activities aimed at increasing household incomes among its beneficiaries. Some of the results required to achieve progress in this thematic area include; increased savings, increased production and food security, increased ownership of assets for example land, agricultural machinery and processing plants among others.


Advocacy involves the pursuit of strategies, approaches and actions to influence policy and policy outcomes. It focuses on processes that aim at creating positive change out of policies and bylaws and/or their implementation for the good of individuals, communities and the society as a whole. In EADEN’scontext, advocacy involves speaking for, with and giving a voice to the people, especially the vulnerable. It is the creation of awareness among rights holders for change, engaging in actions aimed at getting the duty bearers to put commitments and pronouncements into action for positive outcomes. EADEN aims at creating awareness among community associations, and member organizations, train their leaders, assist them with tools for advocacy planning and support them in development and implementation of their advocacy strategy based on their own reality and the situation at hand and in their context. At national level, EADEN collaborates with Uganda Common Voice Platform and PELUM Uganda to advance the issues faced by farmers in its area of operation.

Sustainable Livelihood & Environmental management

In order to contribute to sustainable development, EADEN promotes adoption of Disaster Risk Reduction measures and Sustainable/Climate smart Agricultural Practices among its target communities. Through its Crop and Livestock production units, EADEN offers technical support to its farmer organizations on how to combat the devastating effects of climate change on agricultural production.


EADEN is highly committed to promoting gender equality because we recognize that it is one of the greatest contributors to human development. At institutional level, Gender Focal Persons have been appointed, Gender sensitive policies have been rolled out and gender constraints have been put into consideration during project design and development. Our staff and volunteers have been empowered to ensure that all interventions improve the lives of both women and men.Emphasis has been put on application of Gender Action Learning Systems
